![]() ![]() Over many years, he hardened his heart and became the evil Fell Dragon responsible for much of Elyos' suffering, although he claims that he never sought to destroy Elyos and simply did not care about the suffering he caused it so long as he could use its Emblems to accomplish his goals. ![]() Its disappearance following his adoption by a village convinced him that forming bonds would only lead to further misery, and he resolved to view other people as nothing more than tools for his ambitions, even his own children. His only friend was the Emblem of Foundations, who allegedly taught him to seek revenge for his exile while disdaining connections to others. ![]() In the past, Sombron was a scared young child from another world, exiled to Elyos by enemy forces after his people lost a war for control over their native Emblems and only spared from murder out of kindness. Rafal would attempt to honor Sombron's wishes by collecting the Emblem bracelets, but was ultimately foiled by the present Alear who had been called in from another world, alongside Nel and the remaining members of the Four Winds. Before his death, he used the last of his power to taint Nel's dragonstone, who she had shared with Rafal, evoking feelings of envy and resentment in Rafal over Nel's strength and ability to transform. Rafal, one of Sombron's other children, impressed Sombron with his ability to awaken the Emblem bracelets from slumber, who decided to make him his heir and ordered him not to reveal his newfound power. In the aftermath, Nel profusely apologized to Sombron for killing her siblings, but he was undisturbed and even praised her for doing so. One day, their siblings insulted Nel, offering to kill her weaker brother for her. Among his twin sets were Nel and Nil who were both had an unusually strong, loving bond. As an interesting quirk, his children were all born as twins though most pairs ended with one child remaining, usually due to the other being lost to his war or sometimes the siblings killing their paired sibling. Like his main timeline counterpart, Sombron fathered multiple Fell Children. In the alternative Elyos, Sombron is not the father of the Alear, but he had a version of Veyle who died before the events of the Xenologue. The death of Alear removed the Divine Dragon's blessings on Elyos, leading to its rapid decline. When Sombron was inevitably revived, Alear faced him and in the ensuing battle, the two killed each other. He dies satisfied, believing he had succeeded in summoning the Emblem. Sombron does so, calling out "Burn us, Emblem of Foundations." Though no Emblem is summoned, and the only people he sees before him are Alear and Veyle, Sombron reacts as though the incantation worked. When asked if he remembers the incantation to summon the Emblem of Foundations, Sombron claims that he does, and Alear urges him to give it one last try. He destroyed the village and began seeking the Emblems of Elyos to reunite with his Emblem and exact revenge on those who exiled him. The loss of the only being he considered a friend made him bitter, and he blamed the villagers for the Emblem's disappearance out of the belief that the Emblem wished for him to remain alone. The Emblem of Foundations served as a source of great comfort to Sombron, but disappeared a few years after Sombron was adopted by a village who believed him to be a lost child. His only comfort was the Emblem of Foundations, whom he managed to take with him upon his exile. He was exiled to Elyos by enemy forces and only spared from murder out of kindness. As a child, Sombron's entire family was wiped out by enemy forces, leaving him the only survivor. ![]() He originally came from another world, where a war over the possession of its Emblems was fought. He cares nothing for his children, only referring to them by name on the rarest of occasions.Īs Alear and Veyle confront Sombron within the portal to other worlds, Sombron reveals the purpose of all the destruction he wrought. Any children that failed him in his eyes, whether because they were too gentle to be his devoted warriors or due to mistakes he could not tolerate, were killed by his order, either at the hands of the Corrupted or similarly cruel methods. However, in the present, only two of his children are known to have survived the war a thousand years prior: his youngest child, Veyle, and Alear, who ultimately sided with Lumera and turned on him. It is eventually revealed that Sombron had many children by an unknown number of mothers. ![]()
